With us, you will learn everything you need to work at the interface between people and technology, medicine and engineering. The programme includes technical and medical modules as well as interdisciplinary components. This will qualify you as a sought-after engineering talent in the life science industry.

In the technical environment, you will learn the basics of mathematics and physics as well as advanced topics such as medical device technology and product development. Anatomy, physiology and biophysics teach you the fundamentals of medicine. Interdisciplinary modules include language courses as well as computer science, project management, agile methods and intercultural communication.

From the sixth semester onwards, you can choose your modules from a wide range of options and thus determine your own focus. Whether you want to delve deeper into management or become a development professional, the choice is yours!

The English-language Bachelor's programme in Medical Engineering is aimed at those who want to improve or maintain human health with the help of technical solutions and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams. The programme teaches technical and medical fundamentals and offers the opportunity to specialise in different fields.

Medical Engineering offers an international orientation and flexibility through many options. These can be used either to acquire language skills or to expand professional or personal competencies. The programme is aimed on the one hand at applicants who have basic knowledge of the German language (level A2) and wish to improve it, and on the other hand at those who already have German language skills at level B2 or better or are native speakers.

Practical relevance

The lectures have a strong practical focus and utilise interactive formats. The theory is supplemented by practical exercises in our laboratories and project work. You will have access to a teaching and research operating theatre, learn about large medical devices for imaging and radiotherapy in the X-Ray & Molecular Imaging laboratory and can expand your anatomical knowledge in the Medical Training Centre using ultrasound equipment. In the technical area, you will programme computers, learn how to work with robots and use various 3D printers. You will also have contact with industry and medical facilities through excursions, listen to guest lectures from experts in the medicine and industry and do industry-related project work from the get-go of your studies with us.
